Her extensive experience with liturgical music started in high school when she would sub for her mother, noted soloist Italia Bruno.  She went on to hold professional positions in the choirs of St. John’s, Philadelphia, PA; The Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains, Cincinnati, OH; St. Timothy’s, Raleigh, NC; Hebrew Union College, Cincinnati OH; and Temple Beth Or, Raleigh, NC.  Currently, she is honored to serve as soloist at First Church of Christ Scientist, in Raleigh, NC.

Her desire to educate and inspire future audiences lead her to perform as a member of the North Carolina Touring Artists roster, and to perform her one-woman show Backstage at the Opera for elementary school students.

As a music educator, she has served on the faculties of East Carolina University, William Peace College, and Saint Mary’s School.  Presently, she teaches Applied Voice and Ear Training at Campbell University and maintains a dynamic private voice studio in Raleigh.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from West Chester University, and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.  Additionally, she pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, while on full scholarship.  She also holds a Level III certification in Somatic Voicework, from Shenandoah University.

She resides in Raleigh NC with her husband, North Carolina Symphony Clarinetist, Michael Cyzewski. Judie and Mike are especially proud of their three children, Michael, Patrick, and Victoria.

Cindy Schultz 150x150Cindy Schultz – Organist/Pianist

When I began playing the piano at age four, I couldn’t have imagined where my path would lead. Eventually, it would bring me to serve churches in North and South Carolina as both pianist and organist, teach piano for 25+ years, and accompany soloists and instrumentalists in my hometown, college, and seminary.

Church has always been an important part of my life, and as I grew in my knowledge of the piano, I incorporated that knowledge into playing for Sunday School classes. I also accompanied choirs in middle school and high school.

Upon graduating in music from Mars Hill University (it was Mars Hill college then), I received a Master of Church Music degree (piano) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where I met my husband, Larry. We married in the seminary chapel and began a joint ministry of providing music for churches of varying denominations.

Currently, I serve as church organist at First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and teach piano and voice lessons at Accelerando Music Academy.

My calling as organist allows me to be an integral part of First Church of Christ, Scientist, a loving community of faith that supports meaningful worship music. I am undergirded by their encouragement and friendship, and blessed beyond measure.

When I am not at church, I enjoy decorating, crafts and watching movies at home with Larry and our two children, Ryan and Kelly. Miki, our dog, is usually in our laps.
